Internet Can’t Cope With What Rescue Dog Does on Vacation: ‘Grateful’
|A rescue dog’s reaction to being on vacation has melted hearts on social media.
Hannah and her partner, Elliot, who live in Dubai, recently celebrated her 30th birthday with a staycation in Ras Al Khaimah, bringing along their dog Lola to mark the occasion.
On TikTok, Hannah posted a video of Lola taking in the scenery, which she captioned, “Grateful girl.” The clip has gone viral, receiving more than 500,000 views in a matter of days.
“Each morning Lola would sit for about 20 mins on the balcony, gazing out at the ocean,” Hannah told Newsweek. “We let her take her time soaking in the sound of the gentle waves and the endless horizon. She was truly captivated.”
In the clip, Lola can be seen gazing out at the water, and Hannah wrote in the video’s text overlay, “When you take your rescue dog on vacation with you and she sits and looks out to the ocean for 20 minutes each morning.”
The owner told Newsweek: “Lola loves the water and adores swimming, so as soon as she was ready, we’d head down to the beach for a morning swim. Originally from Somerset in the U.K., we’ve called Dubai home for the past seven years.
“Lola joined our family during the pandemic—she was rescued just over four years ago, along with her five sisters (who were all adopted by loving families, too, one being my best friend, so Lola gets regular play dates with her sister) after being found abandoned in the desert by her incredible rescuers.
“Lola is our whole world and center of our lives. Adopting Lola was the best thing we have ever done.”
Traveling with pets is a common thing for dog and cat owners. A report by the American Pet Products Association said 55 percent of American dog owners planned their travels around their pets. Additionally, 88 percent of dog owners traveled with their pets over the past year, with 68 percent of them traveling by plane.
Hannah’s video received more than 1,000 comments, with viewers sharing their reactions to the moment.
“What’s better than sitting and staring at the ocean? Sitting and watching your dog stare at the ocean,” one user commented.
Another added: “She’s soaking in her new life and adventures with the ones who saved her. Rescues are the most grateful.”
A commenter said Lola was “probably mesmerized by all the smells, the soft wind, the ocean waves.”
