Melania Trump ‘quietly’ renegotiated prenup with Donald ahead of potential second presidential term, legal woes: sources

Sources tell Page Six that Melania Trump has “quietly” renegotiated her prenuptial agreement with Donald Trump in advance of his potentially serving a second term in the White House.

An insider told us of the agreement between the couple who married in 2005, “Over the last year, Melania and her team have been quietly negotiating a new ‘postnup’ agreement between herself and Donald Trump.”

The source further said, “This is at least the third time Melania has renegotiated the terms of her marital agreement,” but the source added that it’s not because the former first lady is going anywhere.

“Melania is most concerned about maintaining and increasing a substantial trust for their son, Barron,” 17, the same source familiar with Melania, 53, told Page Six.

The new agreement also provides for Melania, and spans money and property, according to the source.

Reports have said Melania previously renegotiated the couple’s prenup in 2017.

A different source told us of the new agreement, “I know that she wanted it to provide her with more money, and also — from what I understand — there’s a specific amount at minimum that Barron is supposed to obtain.”

The first source said the timing of the updated agreement wasn’t only because Trump, 77, could potentially serve another term, but because of his recent legal battles as well.

Said the insider, “This agreement was necessary because of the current legal battles … [Donald] has suffered” — including potential payouts in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ sprawling, $250 million civil case against Trump and his real estate business, as well as a court order for him to pay $5 million to E. Jean Carroll for defaming her.

Melania’s priority is the couple’s son, Barron, sources said.

Trump pleaded not guilty in the James case and is appealing Carroll’s case against him.

Said our source, “Trump remains very rich, but with mounting legal bills and judgments,” and the renegotiated prenup would “provide a more solid future” for Melania and their son should the couple split.

“It’s not that she threatened to leave him,” the source cautioned. “It’s definitely the underlying idea.”

Reps for the Trumps did not reply to Page Six’s request for comment.

It’s not the first time there’s been word of a Melania prenup renegotiation (which her former spokesperson denied as “fiction” before writing her own book on Melania, which Melania’s team then said was filled with “mistruth and betrayal”).

In a 2020 book — “The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump” by Washington Post writer Mary Jordan — it was alleged that the former first lady renegotiated the couple’s prenup in 2017 at the same time that she was delaying her move from Manhattan to the White House.

Trump has been charged in multiple criminal cases over the last few months.

The book, which was said to be based on more than a hundred interviews, reported of Melania: “She wanted proof in writing that when it came to financial opportunities and inheritance, Barron would be treated as more of an equal to Trump’s oldest three children” — meaning Donald’s grown kids with Ivana Trump, Eric, Ivanka and Don Jr.1007

He also has a daughter, Tiffany Trump, with ex-wife Marla Maples.

A spokeswoman for Melania at the time — her former chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham — blasted the book and its reporting about the prenup by saying, “Yet another book about Mrs. Trump with false information and sources. This book belongs in the fiction genre.”

Melania’s former spokeswoman penned a tell-all about her time in the White House.

Ironically, the same spokeswoman published her own Melania tell-all a year later in 2021.

After she’d resigned from the gig, Grisham reportedly called the first lady in her own tome a “doomed French queen. Dismissive. Defeated. Detached.”

Melania’s office then blasted that book, “I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw in the Trump White House,” by releasing a statement that said in part, “Through mistruth and betrayal, [Grisham] seeks to gain relevance and money at the expense of Mrs. Trump.”

We’ve previously reported that Donald and his team see Melania as his “secret weapon” in politics.

An insider has said the onetime model is “credited by his friends with keeping President Trump ‘calm and focused’” in stressful times.

A source added, “She provides a peaceful life for him when he needs it.”

Jordan’s book also reported that Melania knows she is a calming influence on the fiery pol.
