A year ago, Vincent and Courtney opened their home to Oscar, a shy 13-year-old boy. They found Oscar in a shelter for orphans, and when they first saw him, they knew he was the one. It was love at first sight. Then, they had to make a difficult choice: To take only Oscar to his forever home with them or take him along with his eight-year-old brother, Jerry.

Oscar and Jerry had lost their parents in a car crash and were placed for adoption. The brothers were confident they would find a loving family to take them in together. But they guessed little about what fate had in store for them when Vincent and Courtney made their choice.

The couple was not financially well-off and knew they could afford to raise only one child. The choice was apparent as Vincent and Courtney’s hearts went out to Oscar, and they decided to take him home, away from his little brother…
