I Took Care of My Disabled Husband for 9 Years, One Day I Came Home Early & Saw Him Standing – My Story
I cared for my wheelchair-bound husband day and night for nine years, only to return home early from work one day and see him standing on his feet. Much to my shock, more surprises were on their way.
My marriage was like a dream come true. When Christian and I exchanged our wedding vows and rings, we were excited to start a beautiful chapter together.
We lived the best days of our lives, and a year later, our daughter, Hope, was born. I could not have asked for a life better than this. How happy we were together and how all my friends envied me!

“Jill, you’ve got the best life partner on earth!” They often pulled my legs during kitty parties. Everything was perfect, smooth, name it, and I was living it.
My life was becoming better and more beautiful each day. I was so happy, and before I could find new reasons to smile, one phone call from the hospital just two days after Christian’s 37th birthday turned our lives from heaven into hell…

I collapsed on the couch, unable to believe what was true and what was not.
No, Christian, I’ll not let anything happen to you, I kept crying. Hope came running to me, and we rushed to the hospital. Christian said he was meeting someone in Miami regarding the new business he wanted to start. I remember he was so excited the morning he left for the airport.
My heart began pounding faster as I marched inside the ward, only to be told by the doctor that Christian had lost his ability to walk due to a spinal cord injury.
“Does he know?” I asked the doctor, tears streaming down my eyes.
“Mrs. Leeds, please stay strong,” was all she said, and she walked away, not answering my question.

I could not believe my perfect life had just ended. My husband, who loved running about doing things for me and our daughter, could not walk again. He could not feel his legs. He could not move. He became dependent on us for everything, and I know how heavy his heart would’ve felt every time he asked me to help him with even the basic things like washing up and using the restroom.
Oh, Christian, I can’t bear to see you struggle like this! My heart screamed in pain.
A few days later, Christian was discharged from the hospital, and we went home. I could not...
