Supermodel Georgina Cooper’s Cause of Death at 46 Revealed

Tragic details surrounding the untimely death of a nineties supermodel have finally come to light.

Nearly two weeks after the passing of Georgina Cooper, known by her married name Smith, it has been revealed that her death was the result of a medical emergency.

According to a statement provided to Daily Mail by a hospital spokesperson, Cooper succumbed to cirrhosis of the liver and internal bleeding after her organs failed.

“The doctors did what they could, but because of her condition, there was not much that could be done,” the spokesperson shared.

Due to Cooper’s well-documented medical history, the coroner determined that an autopsy was unnecessary. Following her passing, her body was transferred from Venizelou Hospital in Heraklion to another facility within the city before being flown back to Britain.

The 46-year-old British supermodel was on vacation with her new husband, Nigel, on the Greek island of Kos on October 21 when she became ill. She was initially admitted to the local hospital, but her condition worsened rapidly.

Due to the severity of her illness, she was airlifted to a more advanced facility in Crete, where she spent five days in intensive care before passing away. Her loved ones and fans continue to mourn her loss.

Cooper first gained attention in the 1990s. She was discovered at 13, and by 15, she was already in the spotlight, appearing in a Bon Jovi music video. Her gap-toothed smile made her stand out, and she became a favorite of top photographers, including Corinne Day.

Carole White, a former model and the head of Premier Model Management, also shared warm memories of Cooper. Reflecting on Cooper’s early days in the industry, White said, “She was a walk-in and she was so much fun. When she was young, she made a lot of money and she had this very edgy streak that was of the time. Everyone found the gap between her teeth quite amazing.”
