Jodie Foster came under fire for a comment she made about Gen-Z – she is finally breaking her silence

Jodie Foster, undeniably one of the most iconic actresses, commands immense love globally. However, it appears that Gen-Z might not be among her biggest admirers after a recent comment stirred some controversy.

Known for her straightforward nature, the Oscar-winning actress candidly expressed her sentiments about Gen-Z, and the feedback was not always positive.

During an interview with The Guardian, Foster openly shared that working with Gen-Z could test her patience at times. She remarked, “They’re really annoying, especially in the workplace. They’re like, ‘Nah, I’m not feeling it today, I’m gonna come in at 10:30 a.m.’” She continued, “Or, like, in emails, I’ll tell them this is all grammatically incorrect, did you not check your spelling? And they’re like, ‘Why would I do that, isn’t that kind of limiting?’”

The renowned actress, unimpressed with the newest generation’s work ethic, made her sentiments clear. However, she didn’t want to risk alienating or upsetting them, as she took the opportunity to clarify her comments on the Golden Globes red carpet.

During a red carpet interview at the 81st Golden Globes, held at The Beverly Hilton, the 61-year-old actress offered a qualification to her previous remarks. Foster made it known, especially to Gen-Z, that she genuinely “loves” them, emphasizing that her two sons belong to the same generation.

“I adore them. They have all this freedom, which is wonderful but we didn’t have. We didn’t know we could say no, for example, and it’s just created a miraculous, confident, different, authentic people,” she explained. Acknowledging the challenges, she added, “But it also makes them, you know.”

When the interviewer suggested that it can be “very difficult sometimes,” Foster responded with a simple yet emphatic “Yes.”

As a lighthearted afterthought, she quipped, “But you need them in order to make your phone work. What can I say.”

Foster’s earlier comment expressing irritation with Gen-Z didn’t seem to sit well, prompting her to address and clarify the sentiment in this subsequent interview. After all, everyone is entitled to their personal opinions!
